I became passionate about working with women who’ve struggled with their weight after I discovered Intuitive Eating. Once I began to practice Intuitive Eating, I became aware of all the stress, guilt and anxiety around food and my body that had been part of my life. The disturbing part was that I wasn’t even aware of the stress, guilt and anxiety until it was gone! It just seemed like a natural part of being a woman. Every woman I knew was suffering the same stress, guilt and anxiety that I had experienced. Every woman I knew was dissatisfied with her body.
The study of women and body image, Intuitive Eating, and the Health at Every Size movement, has been my main focus for the past five years. The more I learn, the more committed I am to creating a culture shift in this country. I want to create a world where every woman and girl is recognized for her own unique beauty, encouraged to pursue her dreams, and acknowledged for the value she brings to the world.
I graduated from the iPEC coach training program in June of 2007. As I went through the program, it became clear to me that coaching can create tremendous change in women’s lives. The coaching process helps a client become very clear about what it is she really wants. Coaching helps her take one step at a time to reach her goals. But the most powerful thing that happens is that her confidence and courage grows as she sees what she is capable of with just a little focus and encouragement from her coach.
Being a quality coach is very important to me. That is why I received my certification through iPEC coach training program, and became an accredited coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF). I continue to grow and learn in my abilities as a coach.
Besides my coach training, I bring many skills and much experience to my work:
- BA degree from the University of Alabama
- Elder and Worship Associate with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville
- Publicity Chair of the Gainesville Area Women’s Network
- Diplomat with the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce
- Registered Mediator with the State of Georgia 2003-2004
- Conflict Management lecturer at the Mountain School of Congregational Leadership (Unitarian Universalist Association) 2001-2008
- President of the Board of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Savannah 2003-2004
It would be my honor to be your coach. Please contact me to discuss how we might work together.
Best wishes
JoLaine
